Plain-language terms for using Otis.
What Otis is
Otis is a tool to help you keep records of investments you own. It is not financial advice, an investment platform, or a brokerage. Otis doesn’t execute trades, doesn’t custody assets, and doesn’t recommend buying or selling anything.
Use at your own risk
Prices, dividend forecasts, and FX rates shown in Otis come from third-party data providers. They may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Don’t make money decisions based on what Otis shows without verifying with your broker or the underlying source.
What you can do
You may use Otis for personal investment tracking on devices you own. That’s the whole permitted scope.
What you can’t do
- Reverse-engineer the app or its services.
- Use it to harm others or violate any law.
- Hammer the API in a way that disrupts service for other users.
- Resell, sublicense, or rebrand Otis as your own product.
Liability
Otis is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Otis and its makers are not liable for any losses, damages, or missed opportunities arising from your use of the app or reliance on the data it shows.
Termination
You can stop using Otis at any time by deleting the app. Otis can stop providing the service at any time, with or without notice — we will do our best to give reasonable warning.
Changes
If these terms change materially, the “Last updated” date above changes and we surface a notice in the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Johannesburg.
