Otis is a personal portfolio tracker for iOS. This is what we do and don’t do with your data — in plain language.
What you give Otis
- The transactions you enter (buys, sells, dividends, splits, fees).
- The portfolios you create.
- The watchlist tickers you save.
- Your name (for the greeting), home currency, and time zone.
- Optional notification preferences.
Where it lives
All of the above is stored on your device, in Otis’ local database. Nothing leaves your phone unless you explicitly opt in to iCloud sync. When that ships, your records sync to your private iCloud account — Apple holds the keys, Otis never sees them.
What we send to our servers
Otis is backed by a small Cloudflare Worker at api.otis.money. When you pull-to-refresh or search for a ticker, we send:
- The ticker symbols you’re asking about.
- Your home currency (for FX conversion).
- An anonymous device identifier, used to apply rate limits and prevent abuse.
That’s the entire payload. We never send your transactions, your portfolio sizes, your name, or anything that identifies you personally.
Third parties
The Worker proxies your queries to:
- CoinGecko — crypto prices.
- European Central Bank — daily FX reference rates.
- Polygon.io — US stock prices.
- EODHD — JSE prices and dividend calendars.
Those services see ticker symbols. They don’t see who you are, what you own, or how much.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run analytics on you.
- We don’t show ads.
- We don’t sell or share your data.
- We don’t profile you across apps or devices.
Your rights
- You can delete any record at any time from inside the app.
- Deleting Otis from your device removes everything stored locally. iCloud data follows Apple’s rules (managed in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud).
- Email hello@otis.money for any request — data export, deletion, correction, or general questions.
Children
Otis isn’t directed at children under 16. If you’re below that age, please don’t use the app.
Changes
If we change anything material, the “Last updated” date above changes and we surface a notice in the app.
